Sherrill, a former Navy pilot and current congresswoman, shared the news on social media, writing, “I’m so proud to have earned @MomsDemand’s Gun Sense Candidate distinction. I’ve been working with Moms Demand Action since 2017 when I first ran for office, and I’m committed to continuing the fight to keep our kids safe from gun violence as governor.”

Founded in the aftermath of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, Moms Demand Action has grown into a nationwide grassroots organization.
