Cumberland woman crashes into parked cars then assaults officer in DUI arrest

CUMBERLAND, Md. — A Frostburg woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly crashing her vehicle into two parked cars and assaulting a police officer during a DUI-related arrest late Wednesday night.

Officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded around 10:29 p.m. on April 16 to the 1500 block of E. Oldtown Road after receiving reports of a vehicle striking multiple parked cars and attempting to flee the scene.

When officers arrived, they located the driver, identified as 40-year-old Dawn Marie Fishel, still at the scene. Authorities say Fishel refused to exit her vehicle when asked and became combative. As officers attempted to remove her from the car, Fishel allegedly assaulted one of them.
