Deputies responded to a complaint of suspicious activity around 7 p.m. on April 30 after it was reported that an adult male had approached a young child. The investigation led to the identification and arrest of Kurt R. Geisler later that evening.

Authorities said Geisler is accused of following the child and attempting to give them inappropriate gifts and notes. “In order to protect the victim’s privacy, no further information about them or the case will be released,” the Sheriff’s Office stated on Facebook.

Geisler has been charged with second-degree stalking, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. He was arraigned in the Town of Pleasant Valley Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center with bail set at $1,000 cash or $10,000 bond.

The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are working to determine if there may be additional victims or related incidents.
