U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the arrest of Marcia Lorena Bueno Guartatanga, a 38-year-old Ecuadorian national, for her role in enabling the sexual abuse of her daughter by her husband.
ICE officials took Bueno into custody on May 1 during a targeted operation in Cortlandt, New York. According to authorities, she had entered the U.S. unlawfully on an unknown date and location, without inspection or parole.
In October 2022, Bueno was convicted in White Plains of acting in a manner to injure a child under the age of 17 and hindering prosecution. She was sentenced to 95 days in prison and three years of probation after being indicted for allowing her daughter to be abused by her spouse.
“Whether a perpetrator, conspirator or facilitator — depraved, predatory actions against children should not be tolerated,” said William P. Joyce, acting Field Office Director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in New York City.
Bueno is currently in ICE custody and faces removal proceedings for violating the Immigration and Nationality Act.
