NEWARK, N.J. — Authorities are searching for a man wanted for questioning in connection with an armed carjacking involving an Uber Eats driver in Newark last month.
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. announced Tuesday that Shaun Motayne is being sought by police for questioning in the April 7 incident, which occurred in the 200 block of Broome Street.
The victim had parked his silver 2021 Subaru Outback to deliver food when he was approached by a group of Black males wearing ski masks and black sweats. One suspect displayed a firearm and ordered the driver to empty his pockets.
A passenger sitting in the backseat was forcibly removed from the car and robbed of his iPhone and a wallet containing $300. The suspects then fled northbound on Broome Street in the victim’s vehicle.
Anyone with information on Motayne’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS. All tips are anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
