FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A 19-year-old woman was shot and killed during a disturbance in the early morning hours of Monday in the 900 block of Southwest 16th Street, according to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.
The victim, identified as Myrah Zeigler of Fort Pierce, was found lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound when officers arrived shortly after 4:30 a.m. She was transported to Broward Health Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.
Investigators say a group of adults were involved in an altercation that escalated into a physical fight. During the confrontation, an unidentified suspect pulled a handgun and shot Zeigler before fleeing the scene.
Detectives are continuing their investigation and urge anyone with information about the shooting or the identity of the suspect to contact Detective Saint-Jean at 954-828-5570.
