Man fatally shot in head behind Harlem building, NYPD investigating

A man was fatally shot in the head late Sunday behind a Harlem building as police search for the gunman.

MANHATTAN, N.Y. — An unidentified man was shot and killed late Sunday night behind a building on Frederick Douglass Boulevard in Harlem, according to the NYPD.

Police responded to a 911 call at approximately 11:43 p.m. reporting a shooting behind 2271 Frederick Douglass Boulevard, within the confines of the 28th Precinct.

Officers arrived to find a male victim with a gunshot wound to the head. EMS transported the man to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

As of Monday, the victim has not been identified and no arrests have been made. Police have not recovered a weapon and the circumstances leading to the shooting remain under investigation.

Detectives are canvassing the area for surveillance footage and potential witnesses.

Homicide probe underway in late-night Harlem shooting

No information has been released about possible suspects or motives. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the NYPD.

“There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing,” the department said in a statement.
