15-year-old charged with second-degree murder in Bronx double shooting that killed 30-year-old man

BRONX, NY — A 15-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder following a fatal shooting that left one man dead and a woman injured Saturday night in the South Bronx, according to police.

The incident occurred around 8:33 p.m. near 224 Willis Avenue in the 40th Precinct, when officers responded to a 911 call reporting a crime in progress. Upon arrival, they found a 30-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest and a 42-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her leg.

Emergency medical services transported both victims to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln. The man, later identified as Darren Davis, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The woman was listed in stable condition.

On Monday, the NYPD confirmed the arrest of a 15-year-old male suspect in connection to the shooting. The teen is facing charges of murder in the second degree. His name has not been released due to his age.

No information has been disclosed regarding a possible motive or whether the victims were known to the suspect.

Investigation continues in deadly South Bronx shooting

The NYPD has not said whether additional arrests are expected or if the firearm used in the shooting has been recovered. Surveillance footage and witness statements are being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.

The 40th Precinct, which covers Mott Haven, has seen a rise in youth-involved violent crimes in recent months, though it remains unclear whether this case is connected to broader gang activity or a personal dispute.

The 42-year-old woman injured in the shooting has not been publicly identified. Police said she is expected to recover.
