New Jersey’s newest burrito chain challenges Bubbakoo’s and Chipotle’s grip on the Garden State

MIDDLESEX, N.J. — Hot Head Burritos will officially enter the New Jersey market with five new locations planned across Middlesex, Somerset, and Hudson counties under a new franchise agreement with RSRN Hospitality.

The deal marks the fast-casual brand’s first expansion into the Garden State and is part of a broader push to grow its national footprint. RSRN Hospitality, which brings over eight years of restaurant and hospitality experience, will lead the rollout of the new restaurants.

“We’ve been eyeing New Jersey for quite some time, and this exceptional group is exactly the kind of partner we were looking for to lead the charge,” said Kelly Gray, co-owner and corporate vice president of Hot Head Burritos.

RSRN Hospitality is focused on leveraging technology to improve customer service and streamline operations. The group’s leadership team has not yet announced specific opening dates or locations for the five stores but confirmed that development will begin soon.

Hot Head Burritos, founded in 2007 in Dayton, Ohio, has grown to 85 locations across eight states, with a menu that includes burritos, bowls, tacos, nachos, and quesadillas. The brand is known for its 16 signature sauces ranging from “Mild to Wild,” and offers gluten-free, vegetarian, and allergy-conscious menu items.

Expansion builds on national growth strategy

The New Jersey agreement adds to a growing list of franchise deals signed by the company in recent years as it expands beyond its Midwest roots. Franchisees have been drawn to Hot Head Burritos’ customizable menu and strong unit economics.

“Their experience, local insight and commitment to quality make them a great fit for the brand,” Gray said of RSRN. “We’re confident they’ll bring Hot Head’s signature flavor and energy to the communities they serve.”

The company has not yet disclosed whether future development in New Jersey beyond the five planned units is under consideration.
