Ocean County College moves graduation ceremony indoors, families not allowed

TOMS RIVER, N.J. — Ocean County College’s 58th Commencement Ceremony has been moved indoors and restricted to graduates only, forcing families to watch the event via livestream due to forecasted rain.

Originally planned as an outdoor event, the ceremony was rescheduled to take place Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the college’s HPE Gymnasium. The change was announced after inclement weather was predicted for the area.

Due to limited space inside the gym, only graduates will be permitted to attend in person. The college has advised parents and family members to view the ceremony online from their phones or other devices.

“Due to the forecast of inclement weather, Ocean County College’s 58th Commencement Ceremony has been postponed and will now take place on Thursday,” the college said in a statement. “The ceremony has also been moved indoors to the HPE Gymnasium and due to space constraints will be limited to graduates only.”

Doors to the gym will open at 9:00 a.m., and graduates must be seated by 9:45 a.m. in full regalia. Staff will be on hand to assist with seating and logistics inside the venue.

For questions, the college directed students and families to contact the Office of Student Life at 732-255-0348.
