LINDEN, N.J. — Authorities are searching for a suspect involved in a knife-point robbery at a local convenience store Wednesday afternoon on the 800 block of E. St. George Avenue.
According to the Linden Police Department, the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. at the New Way Supermarket located at 816 E. St. George Ave. The suspect allegedly entered the store, walked behind the counter, and threatened the clerk with a knife while demanding cash from the register.
Police described the suspect as a young Black male wearing a blue and white New York Yankees baseball cap, black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt, and black and white Nike Air Jordan sneakers. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled the scene heading east on E. St. George Avenue toward Elizabeth.

The store clerk was not injured during the incident, police said.
“We’re asking for the public’s help to identify this suspect,” the department said in a statement posted to social media on Wednesday afternoon.
Investigation ongoing as police seek tips
Police have not released surveillance footage or still images of the suspect but encouraged anyone with information to contact the department directly. No arrests have been made as of Thursday morning.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Authorities have not disclosed whether the suspect is believed to have committed other similar offenses in the area.
E. St. George Avenue is a major commercial corridor connecting Linden and Elizabeth, and officials believe there may have been witnesses present at the time of the robbery.
The Linden Police Department is working with regional law enforcement agencies to track the suspect’s movements following the robbery.
