NYPD seeks suspect in attempted robbery on J train platform in Queens

The suspect fled after the assault and attempted robbery without taking any property, police said.

QUEENS, N.Y. — Police are searching for a man who assaulted a commuter on a subway platform in Queens during an attempted robbery Thursday morning.

According to the NYPD, the incident occurred around 7:40 a.m. on the Manhattan-bound J train platform at the 111th Street Station. A 26-year-old man was approached by an unidentified individual who punched him multiple times in the face while demanding money.

No property was taken during the incident, and the suspect fled the station in an unknown direction. The victim sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene.

The suspect is described as a man with a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket over a black hooded sweatshirt and carrying a black backpack.

Police have not made any arrests and are continuing their investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact them.
