WILDWOOD, N.J. – The Wildwoods’ Dog Park & Beach has been named one of HGTV’s Best Dog-Friendly Parks and Beaches in the United States, standing out as the only New Jersey location to make the national list.

Located at Glenwood Avenue, the Dog Park & Beach is marked by a towering 25-foot red fire hydrant sculpture and is known for its accessible dog-friendly amenities. The park offers separate fenced-in areas for small and large dogs, shaded structures, water stations, and free plastic bags for pet waste.

HGTV’s recognition adds to the Wildwoods’ history of pet-friendly accolades. The Dog Beach previously ranked second in the country in USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards for “Best Dog Friendly Beaches,” a contest developed in partnership with BringFido.com.

“All dogs entering the Dog Park must be licensed, and owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets,” according to the town’s pet policies. This includes dogs visiting the beach itself, where leash rules are strictly enforced except within the enclosed park area.

The Wildwoods’ Dog Beach and Park are part of a larger commitment by the community to cater to pet owners. From May through October, a block-and-a-half-long stretch of beach is designated specifically for dogs, open daily from dawn until dusk.

Dog-friendly recreation in the Wildwoods

In addition to the Dog Beach, the Wildwoods area includes other canine-friendly locations such as Sunset Lake, the Sea Wall in North Wildwood, and the Wildwoods Bike Path. Another fenced dog park, requiring a permit, is located at 24th Avenue in North Wildwood and is open from 8 a.m. until dusk.

Dog owners are encouraged to obtain permits for park use at the North Wildwood Clerk’s Office and to follow all posted rules. A limit of two dogs per person is enforced in some locations.

Throughout the summer, North Wildwood allows dogs on the beach during hours when lifeguards are off duty. Drinking water stations, signage, and cleaning supplies are available at several sites to help maintain cleanliness and safety for all beachgoers.

Visitors to the Wildwoods are reminded to check local ordinances regarding leash laws, dog licensing, and access restrictions, especially during peak beach hours.

The Wildwoods also offers a range of pet-friendly accommodations. Travelers can browse www.WildwoodsNJ.com and use the ‘pet-friendly’ filter when planning their stay.
