Hagerstown woman claims $870K Multi-Match jackpot after two-month wait

by Local News Report

HAGERSTOWN, MD — A Washington County woman has come forward to claim an $870,000 Multi-Match jackpot prize nearly two months after the April 10 drawing that turned her spare change into a major payday.

The Hagerstown resident, who opted for the $510,000 cash payout, bought the winning ticket at Martins grocery store, located at 1670 Wesel Road. The six numbers on her ticket matched the full Multi-Match draw, securing her the top prize.

The winner said she only plays when she happens to have a few extra dollars while visiting a retailer. This time, it was $4 in change left over from a grocery run that led to the life-changing win.

She learned of the jackpot win from a news alert noting that Martins had sold the winning ticket. That prompted her to check her own numbers using the Lottery’s mobile app. The moment she realized she had the winning ticket, her quiet Thursday took a sudden turn.

The Multi-Match jackpot had been quietly building, and this win is one of the largest for a Washington County player in recent years.
