Eagle Scout donates 50 handmade blankets and funds to CHOP liver patients

JACKSON, N.J. — An Eagle Scout candidate has completed a project benefiting young liver patients at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), delivering handmade blankets and a monetary donation to support pediatric care.

Shane Werosta of Troop 204, Jersey Shore Council, led the effort titled “Wrapped with Care.” With the help of several volunteers, Werosta created 50 no-sew fleece tie blankets for liver patients receiving treatment at CHOP.

In addition to the blankets, Werosta donated $500 to the hospital’s Child Life Services, specifically aiding the GI Suites division. The funds aim to enhance patient experiences by supporting therapeutic and comfort programs.

“I would like to thank you for supporting me in completing my Eagle Scout project for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia,” Werosta stated on his thank you flyer. “I appreciate your support and generosity.”

The project marks a significant achievement for Werosta as he works to fulfill the requirements for the prestigious Eagle Scout rank, the highest honor in the Boy Scouts of America.

Community support drives successful Eagle Scout project

The project’s success was made possible through donations and volunteer assistance. Werosta acknowledged the generosity of the community and supporters who contributed both time and resources to make the initiative a reality.

The “Wrapped with Care” project highlights the impact of youth-led community service efforts and the importance of supporting pediatric patients facing serious health challenges.

CHOP’s Child Life Services offers programs designed to reduce stress and anxiety for children undergoing medical procedures, making donations like Werosta’s a valuable resource for the hospital.

An Eagle Scout candidate from Jackson has delivered comfort and care to CHOP patients with handmade blankets and a charitable donation.
