TRENTON, N.J. — A Virginia Mega Millions player matched all five white balls plus the Gold Mega Ball to claim a $348 million jackpot in Friday’s drawing, lottery officials announced Saturday.
The winning numbers were 18, 21, 29, 42, and 50, with the Gold Mega Ball 02. This marks the second Mega Millions jackpot awarded since rule changes took effect in April. The jackpot resets to $50 million ahead of Tuesday’s drawing.
In New Jersey, players benefitted from the game’s new multiplier system. A Monmouth County ticket purchased at Mike’s Deli in Red Bank matched four white balls and the Gold Mega Ball for a base $10,000 prize, which rose to $40,000 with a 4X multiplier.
Additional multiplier prizes included five players who doubled their $500 prizes to $1,000; one player who tripled their prize to $1,500; another player who won $2,500 with a 5X multiplier; and one player who saw their prize jump to $5,000 with a 10X multiplier.
Mega Millions rules update boosts payouts
The Mega Millions game began automatically applying random multipliers to secondary prizes in April, aiming to grow winnings for non-jackpot players.
Lottery officials reminded players to check their tickets carefully and follow all claim procedures.
