NORWICH, CT — A Connecticut State Police K9 team assisted in the arrest of a man who fled following an armed altercation in Norwich late Thursday night, authorities said.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., Norwich Police Department requested help from Troop E’s K9 unit near 100 Broadway to track a suspect involved in an incident where several individuals allegedly pointed firearms at each other during a verbal dispute.
Police said the suspect fled on foot after experiencing a firearm malfunction. Troopers from Troop E, along with K9 Vader and his handler, responded and began a track from the suspect’s last known location.
K9 Vader led officers through residential yards and wooded areas before the suspect was spotted. The man fled again into a wooded area but was eventually found near Broadway and Huntington Place.
The suspect was taken into custody without further incident and charged by Norwich Police with interfering and resisting arrest.
Police did not release the identity of the suspect, and no injuries were reported.
