Five arrested after stolen vehicle chase in Montgomery County leads to gun seizures

GAITHERSBURG, Md. — Montgomery County Police arrested five suspects, including three juveniles, after a stolen vehicle pursuit led to the recovery of three firearms — including a stolen gun and a ghost gun.

The incident began around 4:21 p.m. on June 27, when officers from the 3rd District located a stolen silver Hyundai Elantra traveling near Old Columbia Pike and Tech Road. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled northbound on Columbia Pike before turning onto Fairland Road and crashing at the intersection of Copland Court.

All five occupants exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers pursued the suspects and apprehended them in nearby neighborhoods.

The suspects included two adults — 18-year-old Nyveek Ross of Silver Spring and 19-year-old Kamonte Frazier of Columbia — along with two 16-year-olds and a 13-year-old.

A search of the area led officers to a bag belonging to one of the 16-year-olds, which contained a loaded handgun. The second 16-year-old was found with two loaded firearms — one reported stolen and the other lacking a serial number.

The 13-year-old, charged with vehicle theft, was referred to the Department of Juvenile Services and released to his guardians.

Ross and Frazier were charged with vehicle theft, obstruction, and disorderly conduct. Ross was released on a $500 unsecured bond, while Frazier was released on a $5,000 bond.
