QUEENS, N.Y. — An off-duty FDNY emergency medical technician was arrested early Saturday morning in Queens and charged with driving under the influence and vehicular assault, police said.
Marc Pelaez, 26, was taken into custody at approximately 6:14 a.m. within the confines of the 114th Precinct. Authorities confirmed he was off duty at the time of the arrest.
Pelaez is facing multiple charges, including vehicular assault, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and driving while ability impaired.
The circumstances surrounding the arrest, including whether any injuries occurred or if other vehicles were involved, have not been released by police.
Pelaez is currently employed as an EMT with the New York City Fire Department. There was no immediate comment from the FDNY regarding his arrest or employment status.
An NYPD report listed the charges as “Vehicular Assault, Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs, Driving While Ability Impaired.”
The investigation is ongoing.
