UTICA, N.Y. — A 39-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a stabbing that occurred Tuesday afternoon on the 1300 block in Utica, police announced.
Utica Police and Fire units responded to the area around 1:50 p.m. on July 1 and found a male victim with multiple stab and cut wounds to the head.

Surveillance footage and witness accounts revealed that a physical altercation had taken place between two males. During the fight, one of the individuals repeatedly stabbed the other in the head and neck.
Due to the severity of the injuries, the case was assigned to the Utica Police Major Crimes Unit for further investigation.
On July 2, detectives arrested Jurell Barber, 39, of Utica. He was charged with second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
The victim’s condition has not been disclosed, and police have not released further details.
