NEWARK, N.J. — A major drug trafficking network tied to the Bloods street gang was dismantled in Newark last week following a 14-month federal investigation that resulted in 18 arrests and federal charges against 24 individuals, authorities announced Monday.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Newark led the joint operation with multiple law enforcement partners, executing seven federal search warrants on July 1 across Essex County. The suspects are accused of running a narcotics operation from the Bradley Court Public Housing Complex.
According to investigators, the group distributed large quantities of fentanyl, heroin, and crack cocaine, and was involved in armed activity, including a June 17 shooting in rival gang territory. Authorities seized $113,000 in cash, firearms, ammunition, 28 bricks of narcotics, and several vehicles during the takedown.
The drug ring—operating under the names Munn Block, M-Blok, Tombstone Gang, and collectively “MunnHees”—is associated with the Bloods subset “Sex, Money, Murder.” Members used social media and drill music to promote the enterprise and intimidate rivals and witnesses.
Three suspects—Sebastian Pierrecent, Quayyan Johnson, and Tauheed Carney—face additional charges for possession of a machine gun and weapons used in a recent gang-related shooting. Pierrecent, a convicted felon, is also charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
Those charged in the drug conspiracy face a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison and up to life, along with fines up to $10 million.
