Fugitive found hiding in subdivision after hours-long search

NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — A 41-year-old man wanted on multiple charges was captured Thursday after fleeing deputies and triggering an hours-long search in the Country Wood Estates Subdivision.

Christopher Stanley, wanted out of Culpeper for extortion, sending threatening messages, and contempt of court, was spotted by a Fauquier County deputy around 10:22 a.m. Stanley fled on foot, prompting Stafford deputies to launch a search using K-9 units and drones.

Despite initial efforts, Stanley evaded capture until approximately 5:08 p.m., when a resident on Equestrian Lane reported a suspicious person matching Stanley’s description. Deputies responded and, with help from the Blue Ridge Task Force Fugitive Unit, took him into custody.
