Pennsylvania man dead in four-vehicle crash on Coastal Highway in Milford

A 71-year-old man was killed Friday morning in a four-vehicle collision on Coastal Highway in Milford, Delaware, according to state police.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:33 a.m., when a Chevrolet Tahoe heading northbound on Coastal Highway near Bakerfield Road crossed into the center median, rotated counterclockwise, and entered the southbound lanes. The vehicle then collided with a Chrysler Town and Country minivan traveling in the opposite direction.

The impact separated the engine from the Tahoe. A Subaru Forester traveling behind the minivan then struck the rear of the minivan, while a Chrysler 200 following in the left lane struck the detached engine.

The driver of the Town and Country, a 71-year-old man from Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

The driver of the Tahoe, a 31-year-old man from Frederica, Delaware, was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries.

A 36-year-old woman from Doylestown, Pennsylvania, who was driving the Forester, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Chrysler 200, a 34-year-old woman from Dover, Delaware, was not injured.

Coastal Highway was closed for approximately four hours during the investigation and cleanup.
