Range Rover stolen from Avalon driveway as police investigate caught-on-camera theft

AVALON, N.J. — A black 2024 Range Rover was stolen Thursday evening from the 4300 block of Fourth Avenue, prompting an investigation by Avalon Police.

Authorities said they were notified around 6:30 p.m. that the vehicle had been taken from in front of a residence. The investigation revealed that the SUV was left unlocked with the keys inside at the time of the theft.

Home security video captured the incident, showing a black male suspect wearing a ski mask entering the vehicle and driving off. No injuries were reported, and police confirmed there was no entry into the home.

A photo and short video of the theft have been released by police in an effort to identify the suspect. The vehicle has not yet been recovered.

Police said vehicle thefts are often “crimes of opportunity” and urged residents and visitors to secure their cars and homes at all times.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
