Five men have been indicted for their alleged roles in a high-end car theft and home burglary ring that targeted residences across New Jersey and New York, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office announced Friday.
Samir White, 19, of Newark, faces multiple charges including conspiracy, auto theft, home invasion burglary, and weapons offenses. His co-defendants — Quamine McDonald, Samir Jordan, Tysir Philips, and Tauheed McLean — have also been indicted in connection with the theft ring.
“Breaking into homes, as is alleged in this indictment, adds a new level of danger to the crime of car theft,” said Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin.

A 2025 Range Rover, valued in excess of $75,000, and designer clothes and sunglasses were stolen from Crescent Parkway; and a 2020 BMW X3, valued at less than $75,000, was stolen from Washington Boulevard. Later that day, White and others allegedly used the 2020 BMW X3 to travel to Midland Avenue in East Orange, where one individual entered the residence, took the keys to a 2024 Audi RSQ8, valued in excess of $75,000, and departed with the Audi and the other stolen cars;
- On January 8, 2025, White and others allegedly stole a 2023 Range Rover from in front of a school when a mother left the vehicle to pick up her child in Holmdel, Monmouth County;
- On February 10, 2025, Samir Jordan and Quamine McDonald were allegedly involved in an attempted home invasion in North Caldwell, Essex County.
The investigation, led by the New Jersey State Police Motor Vehicle Crimes North Unit, revealed that between September 2024 and February 10, 2025, the group allegedly carried out organized break-ins in Monmouth, Ocean, and Essex counties. Investigators say the suspects used stolen vehicles to travel to the target locations, forced entry into homes with a crowbar, and stole valuable items and key fobs before fleeing with the vehicles.
The stolen property included jewelry, weapons, and vehicles with a total estimated value of approximately $700,000.
“This case charges the defendants with auto theft as well as home invasion burglary,” said Division of Criminal Justice Director Theresa L. Hilton.
According to officials, the group also used the stolen vehicles to travel to and from the scenes of the crimes, expanding the operation across multiple jurisdictions.
New Jersey State Police Superintendent Colonel Patrick J. Callahan called the crimes “a violation of the very sense of security every resident deserves.”
The charges stem from an investigation coordinated by state police with support from local departments in affected counties.
A car theft crew used crowbars and stolen vehicles to raid homes across New Jersey, making off with nearly $700K in property before being indicted.
