A Philadelphia man was convicted Tuesday in a violent 2023 home invasion in South Philadelphia that left three people hospitalized with head injuries, prosecutors announced.
Timothy Bynum, 32, was found guilty last month by Judge Tamika Washington of multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including aggravated assault, conspiracy, and firearm violations. His sentencing is scheduled for August 22.
On January 13, 2023, Bynum, along with his mother and sister, forced entry into a rooming house on the 1200 block of South Newkirk Street. Authorities said Bynum produced a firearm and struck three victims in the head while demanding the location of a specific individual.
The victims were taken to Jefferson Hospital and treated with stitches and staples for their injuries. Investigators believe the attack stemmed from a domestic dispute involving a woman living at the property.
Bynum was convicted on three counts each of aggravated assault (F1), conspiracy (F1), simple assault (M2), and recklessly endangering another person (M2), in addition to gun charges including VUFA 6105 (F1), VUFA 6106 (F3), and VUFA 6108 (M1).
“I applaud the skillful prosecution of this case by Assistant District Attorney Jesse Plaksa of our Major Trials Unit,” said District Attorney Larry Krasner.
Bynum remains in custody awaiting sentencing.
