A Salisbury man wanted for the February killing of his father in Wicomico County was arrested Tuesday in Auburn, Maine, authorities announced.
Jabril Roynell Walters, 31, is charged with first- and second-degree murder, use of a firearm in a violent crime, and five counts of first-degree assault connected to a separate July 2024 incident. He is currently awaiting extradition to Maryland.
According to Maryland State Police, Walters was sought in the February 22 fatal shooting of his father, Roy Walters. Officers from the Salisbury Police Department responded to a welfare check around 6 p.m. that day at the 1100 block of Parsons Road, where they found the elder Walters unresponsive inside his apartment. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit took over the investigation, which led authorities to determine that Walters fled the state after the shooting and was living in Maine under an alias.
He was arrested by the Maine Violent Offender Task Force and taken into custody without incident.
