Philadelphia Police Find Man With Gunshot Wound to Head Early Tuesday Morning

PHILADELPHIA — A 49-year-old man was shot and killed early Tuesday morning in the city’s Port Richmond section, according to police.

Officers from the 24th District responded at approximately 1:37 a.m. to reports of a person with a gun in the area of Salmon and Monmouth Streets. Upon arrival, officers found the man lying unresponsive in the roadway in front of the 2900 block of Salmon Street.

The victim had suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead by medics at 1:41 a.m., police said.

No arrests have been made, and no weapon was recovered at the scene. The motive remains unknown. The Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate.
