1 dead, 13 injured after lightning strike at Jackson Township archery range

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A lightning strike at an outdoor archery range in Ocean County left one man dead and 13 others injured Wednesday evening, according to police.

The incident occurred just before 7:15 p.m. at the Black Knight Bowbenders archery range on Perrineville Road. Authorities confirmed that a 61-year-old man was killed at the scene.

The 13 injured victims, ranging in age from 7 to 61, sustained various injuries including burns and symptoms described by officials as “not feeling well.” All were transported to nearby hospitals for medical evaluation and treatment.

Emergency services responded quickly to the location following reports of the lightning strike during stormy weather conditions in the area.
