WASHINGTON, DC — A man and woman were found dead Saturday evening following a domestic-related shooting inside a Southeast DC residence, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Officers with the Sixth District responded to the 4600 block of G Street SE at approximately 8:25 p.m. on July 12 after receiving a report of gunfire. Upon entering the residence, police discovered an adult male and an adult female inside, both unconscious and suffering from gunshot wounds.
DC Fire and EMS responded and attempted life-saving measures, but both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the preliminary investigation, the 43-year-old man shot the 38-year-old woman during a domestic dispute before taking his own life. The victims have been identified as Patrick Cockrell Jr. and Tiffany Montgomery, both of Southeast DC.
The Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch is leading the investigation. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death.
