DOVER, Del. — Dover police officers are stepping up traffic control efforts around Dover Motor Speedway as race weekend kicks off, the department announced Thursday on social media.
With large crowds expected to attend the racing events, officers are working to ensure a safe and orderly environment for both fans and local residents. Patrol units are managing pedestrian crossings and directing vehicle flow around the area.
“It’s race weekend in Dover, and our officers are putting in the work to ensure everyone stays safe,” the department said in a Facebook post.

Authorities are urging drivers to stay alert and watch for pedestrians on roadways that may be more congested than usual due to the influx of visitors.
Officers will remain deployed throughout the weekend to monitor the situation and support event logistics.
