NEW CASTLE, Del. — Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred early Saturday morning at the Superlodge motel located at 1213 West Avenue.
Troopers responded around midnight on July 19 after a 44-year-old Newark man reported being assaulted and robbed in his motel room. According to the investigation, the victim had allowed an unknown woman into his room to use the bathroom. Shortly after, three unidentified men approached the room. As the woman exited, the men forced their way in, brandished a handgun, and assaulted the victim.
Police say the suspects struck the man in the face with the firearm and put him in a chokehold while demanding money and belongings. The group then fled the scene on foot with the victim’s property.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No surveillance images have been released as the investigation remains ongoing.
