BRONX, NY – A manhunt is underway after a woman was smacked in the face and robbed at gunpoint on a Bronx street Wednesday evening, with the attacker fleeing after snatching her chain in a bold daylight assault.
The violent encounter happened around 6:40 p.m. at the intersection of East 174th Street and Townsend Avenue. The assailant first struck the 38-year-old woman in the face before revealing a firearm tucked into his waistband.
He then grabbed the chain from her neck and ran off heading east on 174th Street toward Walton Avenue.

The woman sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization. Authorities described the suspect as a male with a dark complexion, last seen wearing all black — a hat, shirt, shorts, and sneakers. Surveillance footage from nearby businesses is being reviewed as officers work to identify the gunman.
The incident is part of a string of recent street robberies across the borough, and investigators are determining whether the suspect may be connected to other similar cases. Police are urging any witnesses or those with footage of the robbery to come forward.
