Man shot in head on North Woodstock Street dies hours later in Philadelphia hospital

PHILADELPHIA, PA – A late-night shooting in North Philadelphia turned deadly after a 35-year-old man who was gunned down on Woodstock Street succumbed to his injuries just hours after being rushed to the hospital.

The shooting happened around 11:12 p.m. Friday near Woodstock and Diamond Streets. Officers found the victim on the 2000 block of North Woodstock Street with a gunshot wound to the back of the head.

He was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead at 1:14 a.m. Saturday.

The victim’s name has not yet been released as detectives work to notify family members. The investigation has been turned over to the Philadelphia Police Homicide Unit, which is reviewing evidence and searching for a suspect. Police have not released any information about a possible motive or whether the victim was targeted.

Detectives were canvassing the area early Saturday morning, collecting surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses in hopes of piecing together what led to the deadly shooting. No arrests have been made.
