Waldorf teen charged as adult in shooting during gun sale

Waldorf, MD – A 17-year-old has been charged as an adult after a July shooting in Waldorf left a man wounded in the leg, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies were alerted on July 5 when a 22-year-old victim arrived at a hospital with a gunshot wound. The man initially told investigators he had met someone on Sharpersville Road to purchase AirPods. Authorities later determined the meeting was for the victim to sell a firearm to the suspect.

During the transaction, the teen allegedly took the gun and shot the man in the leg. The injury was not life-threatening, and the victim is expected to recover.

An arrest warrant was issued, and deputies searched the suspect’s home on August 6, recovering evidence connected to the case. The teen was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, and weapons violations.
