Bel Air, MD — A registered nurse from Harford County turned a quiet moment into a major payday when she scratched off a $50,000 prize on a Monopoly X50 lottery ticket — but she didn’t believe it at first.
The Bel Air woman, who treats scratch-offs as a casual hobby, told Maryland Lottery officials she had to double-check the win after once thinking she’d won big, only to be let down. This time, however, it was real.
She scored the second-tier $50,000 prize on the $10 Monopoly X50 ticket, which launched in January and remains her go-to game. The lucky ticket was purchased at Margate Marathon on York Road in Lutherville.
“I always pick it if the store has it,” she told officials. “Monopoly tickets have been pretty lucky for me.”
This is the seventh $50,000 prize claimed in the game, leaving three more still in circulation, along with three unclaimed $100,000 top prizes.
The winner said she plans to pay down bills and treat herself with a portion of the windfall, though she hasn’t settled on exactly how just yet.
