OXON HILL, MD – A Washington, DC man has been arrested and charged in connection with a deadly shooting that took place in Oxon Hill last month.
Daniel William Jackson, 45, is accused of fatally shooting 31-year-old Deon Damien Thomas on July 12.
Thomas was found outside on Indian Head Highway with a gunshot wound and pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Prince George’s County Police Department, officers responded around 8:20 p.m. to the 5100 block of Indian Head Highway following reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they discovered Thomas unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite efforts from first responders, he was declared dead on arrival.
Jackson, a resident of Washington, DC, was located and arrested Thursday by the department’s Fugitive Unit. He has been charged with first-degree and second-degree murder, as well as additional related charges. He is currently being held without bond at the Department of Corrections.
Investigators have not yet determined a motive in the case and say the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone who may have information related to the shooting to come forward, noting that tipsters can remain anonymous.
