Million dollar wins and jackpot streaks make it a blockbuster month for New Jersey Lottery players

Lottery scratch off tickets for sale

TRENTON, NJ – August is ending on a high note for New Jersey Lottery players, with multiple jackpots—including million-dollar Powerball and Cash4Life prizes—being claimed across Bergen, Sussex, Burlington, and Monmouth counties, while scratch-off players in two cities also took home major payouts.

One of the largest wins of the month came from Bergen County, where a player claimed a $1 million Powerball prize on Aug. 12, marking yet another seven-figure payout from the county in recent weeks. That same day, a Union County player won $50,000 in the Powerball drawing, continuing the multi-county streak of high-tier prizes.

The month also saw a Cash4Life windfall from the Bergen-based retailer Leprechaun News, where a lucky ticket matched enough numbers to trigger a $1 million cash payout. In Sussex County, a player hit a Cash 5 jackpot that exceeded $1 million, while Monmouth County saw a $322,396 Cash 5 win on Aug. 1.

More recently, on Friday, a Burlington County player matched all five numbers in the Jersey Cash 5 drawing to take home a jackpot of $436,763. The win adds to a growing list of significant Cash 5 wins throughout the state in August.

Two major scratch-off wins were also reported on Monday, although details regarding the exact prize amounts and store locations have not yet been released by the Lottery. What is confirmed is that both winning tickets were purchased at separate retailers and each was worth more than $100,000.

In addition to these large wins, the Lottery has reported dozens of tickets with prizes of $10,000 or more in recent weekly summaries, including players in Warren and Bergen counties who each won $100,000 from Powerball earlier in the month.

The month of August also saw the launch of several new scratch-off and Fast Play games across New Jersey, expanding the portfolio of options for players during one of the busiest jackpot periods of the year.

As the Powerball jackpot has now surged beyond $600 million, the pace of high-tier prize claims in New Jersey shows no sign of slowing down, positioning the Garden State as a national hotspot for recent lottery luck.
