Red Bank man to remain jailed on manslaughter and homicide charges after deadly Lakewood crash

TOMS RIVER, NJ – A 43-year-old Red Bank man charged in a July crash that killed two people in Lakewood Township will remain in custody as he awaits trial, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced Monday.

On August 18, Raul Luna-Perez consented to detention at the Ocean County Jail during a hearing before Judge Guy P. Ryan. Senior Assistant Prosecutor Stephen Burke represented the state during the proceedings.

Luna-Perez faces multiple charges including two counts of aggravated manslaughter, two counts of strict liability vehicular homicide, two counts of vehicular homicide, and assault by auto.

That crash killed a woman and her 11-year-old daughter, injuring a second child, who was last reported in critical condition.

Prosecutors emphasized that the charges are accusations at this stage and Luna-Perez is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
