Gunfire erupts outside Maryland Target as suspects flee in black SUV

Gambrills, MD — A Friday night shooting outside a Target store in Gambrills rattled shoppers after a man opened fire on a group in a parking lot and then fled the scene in a waiting SUV, according to Anne Arundel County Police.

Officers responded to the 2300 block of Brandermill Boulevard around 9:05 p.m. after multiple reports of gunshots. Witnesses told police that a man dressed in all black fired several rounds toward a group of similarly dressed individuals before jumping into a black SUV and fleeing the area.

Although no injuries were reported, a vehicle was struck by one of the bullets. Officers recovered several spent shell casings and a live round at the scene.

Police have not released suspect descriptions beyond clothing color and vehicle type. Western District detectives are continuing the investigation and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
