Triple homicide rocks Brooklyn as 12 shot in overnight Franklin Avenue bloodbath

BROOKLYN, NY — Sunday — A gunfire eruption at a Franklin Avenue address in Crown Heights early Sunday morning left three men dead and twelve others injured in one of Brooklyn’s most violent mass shootings in recent memory, as investigators work to piece together what triggered the deadly chaos.

Officers from the 71st Precinct responded around 3:27 a.m. to 903 Franklin Avenue following a 911 call reporting an assault in progress. Upon arrival, police found multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds scattered across the scene. EMS rushed a 19-year-old male and a 35-year-old male — both with multiple gunshot wounds — to NYC Health and Hospitals/Kings County, where they were later pronounced dead. A 27-year-old man, shot in the head, was declared dead at the scene.

The deceased were identified as Marvin St. Louis, 19, of Winthrop Street; Jamel Childs, 35, of Kings Highway; and Amadou Diallo, 27, of McKeever Place.

Nine additional gunshot victims were transported to local hospitals in stable condition by EMS, while two others managed to reach hospitals by private means. All surviving victims are reported to be in stable condition, according to police.

The motive behind the mass shooting remains under investigation. No arrests have been made, and the scene was still active Sunday as NYPD detectives canvassed the area for surveillance footage and spoke with witnesses.

Police have not said whether a single shooter or multiple gunmen were involved. The nature of the gathering at the location, a residential building, has not been disclosed.
