Sunshine holds steady in New Jersey as midweek storms loom on the horizon

Trenton, NJ — After another bright and breezy start to the week, Garden State residents can expect a shift in weather patterns beginning Wednesday, with increasing clouds and a growing risk of scattered showers and thunderstorms through Thursday.

Tuesday brings near-perfect conditions, as skies remain partly sunny with temperatures peaking near 75 degrees. An easterly breeze of 5 to 10 mph keeps the air comfortable and humidity manageable. By tonight, skies will turn mostly cloudy with a low around 64, but the calm wind persists from the east around 5 mph.

The midweek forecast, however, signals change. On Wednesday, the first signs of instability creep in with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms, especially after 2 p.m. Daytime highs are expected near 77, and rainfall amounts should remain light—less than a tenth of an inch—though stronger storms could bring isolated downpours.

Wednesday night maintains a similar pattern with continued cloud cover and a chance of thunderstorms under a low near 65. Winds will shift slightly to the northeast at 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday’s outlook sees continued unsettled weather. While the chance of showers dips slightly to 30%, gusty northeast winds up to 25 mph will push in cooler air, capping daytime temperatures around 76. Showers may linger until 8 p.m. before giving way to partly cloudy skies and an overnight low of 60.

Through the fluctuations, rainfall totals are expected to stay light, with the potential for more significant amounts only within isolated thunderstorms.
