ursing assistant charged with sexually assaulting three elderly patients at Northern California care home

MONTEREY, CA — A certified nursing assistant has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies for allegedly sexually assaulting three elderly patients while working at a Pacific Grove nursing home, California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced Thursday.

Paul Nkoy Lumbi, Jr. is accused of committing forcible sexual acts on vulnerable, dependent adults under his care at Forest Hill Manor, a residential facility for seniors. The felony complaint, filed in Monterey County Superior Court, includes charges of forcible lewd acts on a dependent adult, forcible rape, and rape of a person incapable of giving consent.

Lumbi was arrested following an investigation by the California Department of Justice’s Division of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse (DMFEA), which investigates crimes against seniors and dependent adults in long-term care settings. Officials say the alleged assaults took place while Lumbi was employed at Forest Hill Manor, though he has also worked at other facilities in Monterey County and is currently employed at Cypress Ridge Care Center.

Attorney General Bonta called the case a serious breach of trust and underscored the state’s commitment to holding those who commit elder abuse and sexual misconduct accountable. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information about Lumbi’s conduct to come forward.

The investigation remains ongoing, and Lumbi is expected to face prosecution in Monterey County.
