Man shot during memorial service fight in Glen Burnie

Glen Burnie, MD – A man was shot during a violent altercation at a memorial service Monday evening in Glen Burnie, prompting a police investigation and search for the unidentified shooter.

Northern District officers responded to the unit block of Brooks Terrace Road around 7:45 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a large crowd at the scene and an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound outside the residence.

The victim was transported to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland. Officials say his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Detectives determined that the shooting occurred during a memorial being held at the residence for its recently deceased owner. A fight broke out during the gathering, and an unknown suspect opened fire, striking the victim before fleeing on foot.
