NEW YORK, NY — Monday morning commuters across New York faced a patchwork of crashes, lane closures, and emergency construction, stretching from the city’s busiest bridges to rural upstate roadways.
In New York City, drivers using the Williamsburg Bridge encountered roving repairs on the westbound outer roadway, with the left lane closed until 3 p.m. Meanwhile, a long-term emergency construction project shut down the northbound NY 9A ramp to West 129th Street in Manhattan — a closure with no set end date.
On Long Island, a serious crash forced a full closure of NY 109 in both directions at Seversky Road in Babylon. No estimate was given on when lanes would reopen.
Further north, a crash on NY 22 southbound at Lee Lane in Amenia blocked the right shoulder. In North Greenbush, a disabled vehicle on I-90 westbound at Exit 8 (NY 43) closed the right shoulder.
The NYS Thruway saw multiple incidents:
- A crash on I-87 northbound just before Exit 14A in Clarkstown
- A crash on I-90 westbound after Exit 41 (Waterloo) in Junius
In Binghamton, a crash on I-81 northbound near Broad Avenue West at mile marker 11 blocked the right lane just before Exit 12. Police and tow crews were on the scene as of 7:57 a.m.
In Rockland, the Roscoe Rest Stop on NY 17 eastbound remains closed for long-term repairs to its water and septic systems. The building is shut until the end of October, with only portable bathrooms available.
