Thief pummels woman after stealing $58 in goods from Queens store

QUEENS, NY – Tuesday — A brazen shoplifter turned violent inside a Queens store, brutally assaulting a woman who tried to stop her from fleeing with stolen merchandise, police said.

The incident unfolded around 1:20 p.m. inside a commercial establishment at 120-20 Queens Boulevard, where an unidentified woman attempted to walk out with approximately $58 worth of unpaid merchandise. When a 47-year-old female employee confronted her, the thief unleashed a violent attack—punching the woman repeatedly in the head and kicking her in the stomach before bolting from the scene on foot.

The assailant, who remains at large, was last seen heading northbound along Queens Boulevard. EMS transported the victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was treated and listed in stable condition.

Surveillance footage is being reviewed as investigators work to identify the suspect, described as a female with a light complexion and black hair. She was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, black camouflage yoga pants, and black slippers.

No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.
