PHILADELPHIA, PA — A 15-year-old girl disappeared late Monday night after she was last seen walking along a South Philadelphia street, sparking a growing search effort by police and family members desperate for answers.

Makayla Johnson was last spotted around 11 p.m. on the 1600 block of Federal Street, just steps from her home. She hasn’t been seen or heard from since, and police say the teen is known to frequent the 1500 block of the same street — just one block away from where she was last seen.

Makayla, described as 5-foot-6 and weighing about 100 pounds, was wearing a blue tank top, black shorts, and pink and white sneakers. Her long brown hair was clipped up when she went missing, according to a release from the Philadelphia Police Department.

The South Detective Division is urging anyone who may have seen the teen or knows of her whereabouts to come forward. Her sudden disappearance has raised concern in the community, where neighbors and loved ones have begun circulating flyers and checking security footage in hopes of tracking her movements.
