WASHINGTON, DC – A stretch of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE turned into a crime scene last Monday afternoon and early evening after two shootings erupted only a block apart, leaving three people injured within 90 minutes.

The violence began around 5 p.m. on the 2700 block of MLK Avenue, where police said a teenage boy was shot. He was taken to the hospital by private means.

As detectives were still working that scene, another round of gunfire rang out about 90 minutes later near the 2900 block of MLK Avenue. Officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

All three victims were last reported conscious and breathing, police confirmed. No suspects have been announced, and investigators continue to probe the connection between the shootings.
