Pennsylvania couple hits $100K Maryland Lottery jackpot with new scratch-off ticket

Baltimore, MD — A lucky Pennsylvania couple is celebrating a $100,000 top prize from the Maryland Lottery’s Double Your Money scratch-off game after an unplanned stop at a Maryland liquor store turned into a life-changing moment.

The Adams County duo, who dubbed themselves “’Bout Time,” claimed their winnings at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on August 19. The couple purchased their winning $10 ticket at Silver Run Liquors, located on Littlestown Pike near the Pennsylvania border, after a detour in their day led them across state lines.

Longtime fans of scratch-off games, the pair said they frequently monitor the Maryland Lottery’s website for new releases. They spotted the Double Your Money ticket shortly after it launched in mid-July and had a strong feeling it could deliver a major prize.

Once home, they slowly scratched the ticket — first revealing the winning numbers, then matching a number and uncovering the $100,000 prize one digit at a time. Initially in disbelief, they double-checked the ticket multiple times before heading to a store for confirmation.

The winners say they plan to place the full amount into savings to help bolster their retirement fund.

The Double Your Money game launched with tens of thousands of prizes ranging from $20 to $50,000, and includes 14 top prizes of $100,000.
