Queens, NY – Thursday — Skeletal remains discovered near the Jackie Robinson Parkway earlier this month have been identified as belonging to a woman believed to be between 20 and 30 years old, as authorities continue investigating what led to her death.
On Sunday, August 3, police were notified after remains were found in a wooded area near Vermont Place and the Jackie Robinson Parkway. The remains, believed to be female, were described as possibly Black or Hispanic, between 4 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 2 inches tall, with dark brown curly hair with bleached ends.
A distinct rose tattoo located on the upper left buttocks of the deceased is one of the primary identifying features released by the NYPD, who also shared images of the woman’s jewelry and tattoo in hopes of generating leads. Media assets are available through the department’s DCPI portal.
Three days later, on Wednesday, August 6, at approximately 10:33 a.m., Department of Transportation workers made another discovery of possible human skeletal remains near Exit 1 westbound of the Jackie Robinson Parkway in the 104th Precinct. Police responded to the scene and confirmed the presence of remains in a grassy area just off the roadway.

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner is working to determine the cause and manner of death. Authorities have not confirmed whether the discoveries on August 3 and August 6 are connected.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or submit anonymous tips online or via social media. All tips are confidential.
